Finnboda continues to develop – from shipyard to vibrant city!
We at @Vimpelkullen Fastigheter AB now present a revised proposal for a new residential building and commercial spaces at Finnbodavarvsväg 7–9 – a project of approximately 6,000 square meters in total area that has now been submitted to Nacka Municipality for review of the development permit.
The proposal has been developed together with @Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter AB and is based on the unique history of the location – from shipyard era to vibrant neighborhood.
Background:
The area carries the legacy of Finnboda Shipyard (1884–1991), which in the 2000s has developed into a neighborhood where residential, office and service spaces meet, with a unique location at the entrance to Stockholm.
The property currently houses the Q-marked building Finnboda Shipyard's Canteen (1942) as well as a parking area and natural lot.
There is an existing building permit for expansion of the existing building, but the site in general remains underutilized.
The proposal in brief:
New building with 5 + 1 floors with approximately 40 apartments (mainly 2–4 rooms)
Ground floor spaces for business activities and outdoor seating
Garage with 28 spaces and 30 street parking spaces of approximately 6,000 square meters of building area.
Project's main focus:
- Placement on existing parking – preserves natural corridor and visible rock in the north
- Improves pedestrian pathways between Övre Finnboda and Finnbodavarvsvägen
- Activates street space and creates safety through active ground floors
- Mobility measures: charging stations, bicycle storage and car-sharing solutions
- Materials and design that connect to Finnboda's industrial character
- Consideration of future development of the neighboring property, currently Finnboda Park.
- In line with Nacka's Comprehensive Plan 2050 – Västra Sicklaön as an area for sustainable densification and balance between nature and development.
