New hotel planned in Finnboda!
@Vimpelkullen Fastigheter AB manages several of the commercial properties in Finnboda and is now taking the next step in the area's development. A planning application has been submitted to Nacka Municipality to enable a new hotel at Finnbodavarvsväg 19B – in the heart of Stockholm's inlet, in the historic shipyard environment on Sicklaön.
The project is driven by @Rickard Ekberg and @Victoria Ekberg in close collaboration with @Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter AB, who have given great consideration to the site's identity and history.
The property Sicklaön 37:81 consists of three buildings from 1928, 1955 and 2002 – all with cultural-historical value and q-designation. The old industrial buildings, which today house, among other things, Fogia as well as photo and film studios, will be developed with an extension in the brick building's volume plus two new floors for hotel operations.
The architects highlight the ambition to create a more public environment along the quay. The project will open up, create life and meeting places by the water and strengthen the connection between upper and lower Finnboda through a planned pedestrian bridge.
The proposal is in line with Nacka Municipality's comprehensive plan for Sicklaön – with a focus on refining historic environments, creating new public activities and improving accessibility to the water.
The project encompasses up to 3,600 sqm of new GFA totaling 5,500 sqm and will house a hotel, spa, conference facilities, restaurant and public meeting spaces. It will contribute to more jobs, increased safety and more visitors to Finnboda and Nacka as well as an increased level of service for residents in the area.
Vimpelkullen looks forward to together with Nacka Municipality, Andreas Martin-Löf Arkitekter AB and other stakeholders contributing to the next chapter in Finnboda's development – where history, sustainability and future meet at Stockholm's inlet!
